Group Communications Tuesday October 6, 2009 4th IOC Athletes Career Programme ForumThe 4th IOC Athlete Career Programme Forum was held on September 3rd – 5th in Lausanne at the Olympic Museum. In front of more than 60 participants from over 25 countries and 5 continents representing the IOC, NOCs, the Adecco Group and Adecco country organizations, Frank Fredericks, the Chairman of the IOC ACP Steering Committee opened the three day Forum with an engaging welcome address. Launched in 2005, the Programme has supported just under 5,000 athletes and we continuously increase the IOC ACP through an enhanced cooperation and exchange of best practice between the country IOC ACP managers of Adecco and the NOCs with the support and initiatives of the Steering Committee who has defined three pillars for the Programme consisting in: Education, Life Skills and Employment. The first two pillars are delivered by the IOC/NOCs whereas the employment pillar is provided by Adecco. We are proud not just about the services and how they developed, but in how we strive to get better each year. During this forum the passion, commitment and the drive to continue to improve the IOC ACP has never been stronger. This actually could not be better expressed than with the two feedbacks below: “I want to thank you all for an interesting and fruitful forum. It was such a pleasure talking and sharing with you. We all got not only new ideas but also a lot of inspiration and encouragement.” Tuuli Merikoski-Silius, NOC Finland. “It was a great pleasure to meet and work with you at the IOC ACP Forum in Lausanne, and I found the contents of the conference enormously engaging and very insightful. Your enthusiasm and commitment was infectious and I am certain that the programme will continue to grow and prosper under your expert guidance and unstinting endeavour.” Dragan Simonović, ACP Manager Serbia The workshops conducted during the forum generated a number of useful and interesting recommendations which will be addressed by the Steering Committee and within Adecco to strengthen the Programme. Some of the focus points include: 1) Increase Athlete to Athlete Support, 2) Strengthen the operational effectiveness, and 3) Increase communication and awareness activities. The wrap-up presentation as well as all other presentations and pictures will be mailed to you on a CD by October. Following the Summit, Patrick De Maeseneire, Adecco Group CEO and IOC President Jacques Rogge met to further discuss the Programme. Both expressed their commitment to make this cooperation stronger and better over the coming years and shared their gratitude to all of the countries that are participating in the IOC ACP. Stephan Howeg, Jean-Laurent Bourquin and Patrick Glennon, who were present at the meeting underlined their appreciation of what has been accomplished so far and expressed the importance to continue to closely work together in order to bring the Programme to the next level of professionalism. Over the coming months we will be in close contact with further updates on our activities in order to achieve the goals set forward this fall. The starting point will be our first global conference call scheduled for October 8th with a focus on the feedback received about the forum as well as on operational enhancements, communication, and business development activities. You will be receiving an invitation shortly by email. We appreciate your participation at the forum this year and we will take into consideration your feedback and recommendations in order to implement the necessary actions to reach our goals and to keep the momentum up. |
